mute drop 10.0:
the metal gumby.
insert snarky text that we wrote about metal bottom trumpet mutes here…
but now. for trombone. and bass trombone.
still adjustable, still wonderful, and now with a metal bottom. grab one in a material of your choice.
we got aluminum… we got brass...we got bronze…we got another bronze…we got copper…we have stainless (soon)
*(for tenor/bass bone)
tell me about it.
-
tunable on the fly.
just like the the gumby.
need it soft and distant? shove it in your bell.
need it loud and buzzy, pull it back out
-
vented.
with inserted brass threading you are able to vent the mute for different affects or grab an extra pack of screws and see the different sounds those make
-
squishy top/metal bottom
the top of the mute is similar to the gumby allowing you to adjust the depth of the mute in the bell as needed on the fly.
the bottom is the opposite of flexible…being made of metal.

tasting notes.
(organized by weight)
-
aluminum.
color: buzzy, bright, tons of highs, lots of sound, light.
response: fast, snappy, clear.
best for: all-rounder, cutting through ensemble with minimal effort.
-
bronze - x.
color: warm and dark but buzzy, direct and compact, the most focused metal bottom also significantly heavier than the others.
response: pointed, dense, focused, directional, will take whatever you give it.
best for: solo performance, orchestral solos, orchestral playing, loud muted playing.
-
brass.
color: brilliant, buzzy, compact body, even across the range, lots of mids
response: open but precise, takes what you give it.
best for: blowing the walls down while giving a more transparent sound than bronze-x. but similar to bronze-x keeps stable at extreme dynamics.
-
bronze - y.
color: buzzy, brilliant, but also dark, maintains buzz across range. aluminum’s angsty more complex brother.
response: fast, clear but dense and buzzy. A mix of bronze-x color, complexity, and stability with aluminum’s speed and clarity.
best for: orchestral, all-rounder
kyle’s metal gumby fave**
-
copper.
color: thick rich buzz, dark, beefy, most transparent at soft dynamics.
response: more dense, gives more back to the player while not lighting up as much as other mutes.
best for: orchestral, band, need darker/more blended sound.
-
stainless steel.
Coming soon:
